If They Believe as These People Believed

Allah (swt) speaks of the other prophets, and then asks why the munāfiqīn and others cannot believe as these people have believed — these people being the Ṣaḥābah. The Ṣaḥābah are thus discussed within the first juzʾ.

Fa-in āmanū: if they were to believe as these believe — and the measure held up is the Ṣaḥābah — fa-qadi ihtadaw, then they would be rightly guided. This is a great assurance concerning the standing of the Ṣaḥābah in general.
