Allah Has Preferred You Over Us
قَالُوا۟ تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدْ ءَاثَرَكَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَإِن كُنَّا لَخَـٰطِـِٔينَ
“They said, “We swear by Allah, indeed Allah has given to you preference over us, and we were guilty in fact.”” (12:91)
Now they realised their loss, and they said: by Allah, Allah has indeed preferred you over us, and we have certainly been sinners. These brothers who had been so jealous of Yūsuf that they tried to kill him were now saying: you are better than us. You are better than us. In the end they had to admit it. See how Allah made him victorious in every respect — it even reached the point where his brothers said: you are better than us; now we admit it.
