Whoever Has Taqwā and Patience

Why? Allah (swt) says in this part of the ayah, the essence of Sūrat Yūsuf: truly, whoever has taqwā and is patient — then Allah does not waste the reward of those who do good. If you have taqwā and patience, you will win in the end, even if it takes a while. If you have taqwā and patience, then no matter what, you will be victorious in the end. No one should have any doubt about that.

Yūsuf was victorious in the end, in the dunyā and in the Ākhirah — not only in the dunyā, but in the dunyā and in the Ākhirah. But it happened after a while. It took time; it did not happen swiftly, on the same day. So it needs patience. If you do not have patience, you will not survive the long road. The path Allah (swt) set the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on had a great deal of struggling and a great deal of striving. But if you have patience and taqwā, Allah (swt) will establish you in the land.

And Allah (swt) says about Banū Isrāʾīl:

We made from among the children of Isrāʾīl leaders — leaders whom people follow in righteousness, who guide by Our command. When? When were the children of Isrāʾīl leaders for mankind? When they were patient, and when they had certainty in Our ayat. There is no victory without ṣabr. It is mentioned in a hadith: inna al-naṣra maʿa al-ṣabr — victory comes with patience.
