Called From the Blessed Tree
فَلَمَّآ أَتَىٰهَا نُودِىَ مِن شَـٰطِئِ ٱلْوَادِ ٱلْأَيْمَنِ فِى ٱلْبُقْعَةِ ٱلْمُبَـٰرَكَةِ مِنَ ٱلشَّجَرَةِ أَن يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
“So when he came to it, he was called by a voice coming from a side of the right valley in the blessed ground, from the tree, saying, “O Mūsā, I AM ALLAH, the Lord of the worlds,”” (28:30)
Allah (swt) says: so when he reached the fire, he was called from the right side of the valley, in the blessed place, from the tree: O Mūsā, verily, I am Allah, the Lord of the worlds. And then Allah (swt) told Mūsā:
فَلَمَّآ أَتَىٰهَا نُودِىَ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكَ فَٱخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
“So when he came to it, he was called, “O Mūsā, it is Me, your Lord, so remove your shoes; you are in the sacred valley of Tuwā.” (20:11–12)
O Mūsā, take off your shoes, because you are in this sacred valley. You have to come into this meeting with preparation. Take off your shoes — just as we enter into ṣalāh with wuḍūʾ. So he went into that sacred valley at al-Ṭūr. And then he saw this tree, a green tree. There was fire burning in it, but the tree was becoming greener and greener. That fire was not fire; it was light. And he watched, and he saw that light extending up to the samāwāt, the heavens.
إِنَّنِىٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدْنِى وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ لِذِكْرِىٓ
“Surely, I AM ALLAH. There is no god but Myself, so worship Me, and establish Salāh for My remembrance.” (20:14)
And then Allah (swt) told him: I am Allah; there is no god but Me. Allah (swt) spoke to Mūsā in those special moments. Allah (swt) told Mūsā: there is no god but Me, so worship Me, and establish prayer for My remembrance. And then Allah (swt) told him:
إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ
“Surely, the Hour (i.e. the Day of Judgment) has to come. I would keep it secret, so that everyone is given a return for the effort one makes.” (20:15)
Allah (swt) told Mūsā about the Hour — the Day of Judgement, the ākhirah.
