The Greatest Favour a Brother Ever Did
ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was going to Hajj, and she heard some men talking outside. One of them was giving the others a quiz. He asked them: man amannu al-nāsi ʿalā akhīh — who did the greatest favour to his brother? From inside her hawdaj, on top of the camel, ʿĀʾishah responded and said: Mūsā. He is the one who did the greatest favour to his brother Hārūn — because the greatest favour is that Mūsā asked Allah to make Hārūn a prophet. What bigger favour could you do for your brother? He asked Allah: make my brother a prophet. No brother has done his brother a favour like the one Mūsā did for Hārūn.
وَٱجْعَل لِّى وَزِيرًا مِّنْ أَهْلِى هَـٰرُونَ أَخِى
“And make for me an assistant from my own family, that is, Hārūn, my brother.” (20:29–30)
And appoint for me a helper from my family: Hārūn, my brother.
