I Did It in Ignorance
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ
“He said, “I did that at a time when I was mistaken. Then I fled away from you when I feared you. Thereafter my Lord granted wisdom to me, and made me one of the messengers.” (26:20–21)
And then he spoke about the crime. Mūsā (peace be upon him) said: I did it at a time of ignorance — I was ignorant at that time. And then I ran away from you, and then Allah (swt) gave me the message. So do not hold me accountable for something I did then, because at that time I was ignorant. But now I have the message from Allah (swt): He has made me one of the messengers.
