The Few Who Believed From Firʿawn's People

There is something I want to mention about Mūsā and Firʿawn. From the people of Firʿawn, very few followed the daʿwah of Mūsā. One of them was Muʾmin Āl Firʿawn, the believer from the family of Firʿawn. His story is mentioned in the Qur'an, and it is a long story; his story, in shāʾ Allāh, we could talk about in a separate series about al-Qaṣaṣ al-Qurʾānī, the stories of the Qur'an.

And then there is also Āsiyah, the wife of Firʿawn, who believed. Āsiyah, the wife of Firʿawn, believed in Allah (swt) and in the message of Mūsā. And Āsiyah is the one who raised Mūsā, so for him she was like a second mother. Allah (swt) spoke about Āsiyah in the Qur'an, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) also mentioned her in a few ahadith. Allah (swt) says:

Allah (swt) talks about the wife of Firʿawn. She made a duʿāʾ to Allah (swt), and it is an interesting duʿāʾ. She said: rabbi ibni lī ʿindaka baytan fī al-jannah — O Allah, build for me a house in Jannah. You might be amazed: why did she specifically ask for a house in Jannah? Why specifically a house?

If you look at the situation she was living in, you will understand why she was asking for a house. She was living in the palace of Firʿawn. She was the queen. She had everything a woman seeking dunyā would ask for; she had everything the dunyā can offer. But the thing that was missing there was Islam and īmān. So she was living in that place like an alien, a stranger who does not belong there. She is saying: O Allah, build for me a house with You in Jannah. I am not going to live in it now, but one day, in shāʾ Allāh, I will be able to be there. So prepare it for me; build it for me.

And then, after she said build for me a house in Jannah, she said: wa najjinī min Firʿawna wa ʿamalih — and save me from Firʿawn and his deeds. So: build for me a house in Jannah, O Allah, and then take me out of this environment. Wa najjinī min Firʿawna wa ʿamalih — take me out of this place. She has gold, she has silver, she has the servants, she is the queen over Egypt, but she is saying: O Allah, take me out of that environment. Take me out; I do not want to be there. Wa najjinī min al-qawmi al-ẓālimīn — and save me from these oppressive people.
