Every Part Like a Great Mountain

Then Allah (swt) revealed His order. Allah (swt) said: then We revealed to Mūsā, strike the sea with your stick. Mūsā struck the sea with the stick. Allah (swt) says: fa-kāna kullu firqin ka-al-ṭawdi al-ʿaẓīm — the sea split apart, and every part was like a huge mountain. Before his eyes, Mūsā is seeing this water split and break into two pieces, and then stand up like two huge mountains in front of his eyes and in front of the eyes of Banū Isrāʾīl. They are seeing another ayah in front of their eyes.

And then Allah (swt) says yabasā, in another ayah, in Sūrat Ṭāhā. The bottom — the bed of the sea — is wet. It is wet; there is water in it, and it is mud. How can they walk on it? Allah (swt) made it dry. Not only did the sea split, but the bed also became dry. It is said that a wind came and took all of the moisture away from it, so it was firm — yabasā, Allah (swt) says: dry. Prepared for Mūsā and Banū Isrāʾīl. Mūsā stood and made all of Banū Isrāʾīl pass through, and then he was the last one to go.
