From It We Created You
Another verse, which anyone who has been to graveyards will know, is verse 55:
۞ مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ
“From this (dust) We created you, and in this we shall put you back, and from this We shall raise you up once again.” (20:55)
This is the duʿāʾ recited when the soil is thrown in over the deceased at the burial. From it — that is, from the soil — We created you, and to it We are returning you, and from it We will bring you out, extract you, resurrect you, once again.
