Ādam and the Enemy

Allah (swt) then speaks of the Qur'an: how Allah (swt) revealed the Qur'an, and how He sets out its various different discussions for people to benefit from.

After that begins the discussion of Ādam (peace be upon him). Following the Day of Judgement, the story once again opens with Ādam (peace be upon him): how the angels were told to prostrate, and did, whereas Iblīs did not. Then Allah says very clearly:

We said: O Ādam, this is an enemy to you — and to your spouse as well. Take care that he does not drive you out of Paradise, so that you fall into misfortune. The discussion carries on from there, and the story is told of their eating from the apple, or whatever it was that they had eaten from.
