Peace Be Upon You for Your Patience
Then Allah says:
جَنَّـٰتُ عَدْنٍ يَدْخُلُونَهَا وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ ءَابَآئِهِمْ وَأَزْوَٰجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمْ ۖ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ يَدْخُلُونَ عَلَيْهِم مِّن كُلِّ بَابٍ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكُم بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْ ۚ فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَى ٱلدَّارِ
“the eternal gardens they enter, and those as well who are righteous from their fathers, spouses, and progeny. The angels will enter onto them from every gate (saying) “Peace on you for the patience you observed. So, how excellent is the ultimate abode.”” (13:23–24)
These are the people who will enter: theirs is the wonderful abode of the Hereafter. In consequence, theirs are the gardens of permanence, which they will enter together with those of their fathers, their spouses and their progeny who were righteous. The righteous will thus be together in Paradise. This is the beautiful scene that Allah depicts.
Wa-l-malāʾikatu yadkhulūna — the angels enter upon them from every door. And what do they say in their welcome? These are the angels who will welcome the believers into Paradise, and their words are: salāmun ʿalaykum bimā ṣabartum fa-niʿma ʿuqbā al-dār — peace be upon you for your patience, for the patience you exercised.
Patience, then, is of immense weight. This verse should be a comfort to anyone in difficulty: they must be patient, and Allah (swt) will reward them for their patience. It is a wonder, ʿajīb, that even in Paradise, when the angels come to them, they should congratulate them upon their patience.
