Messengers With Wives and Children
Verse 38 is also to be noted:
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِّن قَبْلِكَ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا وَذُرِّيَّةً ۚ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ لِكُلِّ أَجَلٍ كِتَابٌ
“We have sent messengers before you, and gave them wives and children. It is not for a messenger to bring a verse without the will of Allah. For every age there are some rules prescribed.” (13:38)
We sent messengers before you, and We gave them azwāj and dhurriyyah: they were married men, with children — We gave them spouses, and We gave them progeny. To be married, then, is a sunnah of the prophets, a sunnah of the messengers.
