Pillars You Cannot See

At the beginning, after the truthfulness of the Qur'an has been affirmed, Allah (swt) turns to the following other principal matters. The passage from verse 2 richly repays reading: Allah raised the heavens without any pillars that can be seen supporting them. And here is a wonder, ʿajīb: there are pillars of force that are invisible. That is what astronomy and science will tell you today, but the Qur'an was telling it fourteen hundred years ago — that there are pillars, but they cannot be seen.

Allah (swt) then speaks of Himself and of how He administers the affairs of the world. He speaks next of a number of cosmic matters: the colours of fruit and their taste, the various fruits and how Allah (swt) brings all of these things forth, the mountains, the lakes. SubḥānAllāh. The passage is well worth reading, and worth reflecting upon — the benefit in it and the harm. It rewards the reader's attention.
