Those Who Break the Covenant

Allah (swt) then draws the contrast with the wicked: these are the people who break their promises and their covenants and do not stand by them, and who sever the ties of kinship. They are the wicked who break the kinship that one is bound to maintain. Do not be good to your relatives only when they are good to you; you must try to be as good to them as possible, to the best of your ability, without making matters worse. The third mark of evil is yufsidūna fī al-arḍ: they cause corruption in the earth.
