Prayer at the Two Ends of the Day
Another to point out is verse 114:
وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ طَرَفَىِ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلْحَسَنَـٰتِ يُذْهِبْنَ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ذِكْرَىٰ لِلذَّٰكِرِينَ
“Establish Salāh at both ends of the day, and in the early hours of the night. Surely, good deeds erase bad deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful.” (11:114)
Wa aqimi al-ṣalāta ṭarafayi al-nahāri wa zulafan mina al-layl: establish the prayer at the two ends of the day, and in part of the night. The good deeds — the good deeds will remove your bad deeds. There is a constant washing going on when a man does good deeds, and by the prayer above all. Wa-ṣbir: and always the notion of ṣabr, be patient. Ṣalāh and ṣabr, ṣalāh and ṣabr, are always mentioned together.
