Shuʿayb, and Fair Trade

Then Allah (swt) treats the story of Shuʿayb (peace be upon him). The chief matter there is economics, and not cheating, and giving fair trade. And then there is the whole discussion, in which they set out all of this in detail: his people saying, how is it that you were like this before us, before, and now you have become like this? And does your ṣalāh command us that we may not worship what our parents used to worship, and that we must abandon it?

And: you are the only clever one. This is a passage of real interest: it sounds as though they are praising him, and yet they are questioning him. You are the only guided person. You are the only guided one. You are the only one who understands this.

Then it goes on, and their destruction is mentioned again, and that whatever they did, whatever his people did, nothing of it came to benefit them; and they too were destroyed. Then the last story is given, of Mūsā (peace be upon him) and Pharaoh, and the whole struggle between them.
