Whoever Wants the Life of This World
There are then some truly prominent verses given here, which may be looked at quickly before we move into Sūrat Yūsuf — a few verses to be pointed out, of which more may be sought, in shāʾ Allāh.
The first is verse 15. Going back to verse 15:
مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا نُوَفِّ إِلَيْهِمْ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ فِيهَا وَهُمْ فِيهَا لَا يُبْخَسُونَ
“Those who seek (merely) the worldly life and its beauty, We will fully recompense them herein for their acts, and their right will not be curtailed in this world.” (11:15)
Man kāna yurīdu al-ḥayāta al-dunyā wa zīnatahā: whoever wants only the dunyā, the life of this world and its adornment — nuwaffi ilayhim aʿmālahum fīhā wa hum fīhā lā yubkhasūn: We can give them that, but they will get nothing out of it. These are the people who have nothing in the Hereafter but the Fire.
