And We Elevated Him to a High Level

Following Shīth is Sayyidunā Idrīs. Idrīs, most of the scholars say, is a Nabī that came between Shīth and Nūḥ. But there's an opinion of Sayyidunā Ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him) that Idrīs is the same Nabī as Ilyās. But that's a lonely opinion of Sayyidunā ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd. The rest say that Idrīs is between Sayyidunā Shīth and Nūḥ. Allah (swt) did mention Idrīs in the Qur'an. Allah (swt) says:

Wa-dhkur fī al-kitābi Idrīsa innahu kāna ṣiddīqan nabiyyā, wa rafaʿnāhu makānan ʿaliyyā: and remember in the Book Idrīs; he was a ṣiddīq, truthful, and he was a Nabī; and We elevated him to a high level. That's the extent of the knowledge — the accurate and sure knowledge — that we have about Idrīs. But we have some stories about him from al-Isrāʾīliyyāt. And let me tell you what al-Isrāʾīliyyāt is, as a definition that you will remember throughout this series.
