Prophets Ādam, Nūḥ and Hūd: The Patience of the Prophets

Section 4 of 30 · Lives of the Prophets

This Is Our Father Ādam

Ādam then submitted to the will of Allah (swt), and he gave away his soul. And humans did not learn — these things are new for them. So the angels descended, and they washed Sayyidunā Ādam (peace be upon him) witran, an odd number of times. And they dug the grave for Ādam — the malāʾikah — and they made it in the form of a laḥd, and they buried Sayyidunā Ādam (peace be upon him). The angels washed him, and the angels buried him. This is our father Ādam (peace be upon him). This is the end of his story. We ask Allah (swt) to bring us together with our father fī mustaqarri raḥmatihi, in Jannah.

Sayyidunā Shīth. Shīth is one of the Anbiyāʾ that are not mentioned in the Qur'an. He's a Nabī that we know of from the Sunnah. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) says: unzilat miʾatu ṣaḥīfatin wa arbaʿu ṣuḥuf, minhā khamsūna ʿalā Shīth. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) says: Allah (swt) has revealed 104 scrolls, fifty of them on Shīth. Sayyidunā Shīth received revelation from Allah.

And it is mentioned by some of the scholars that he is the son of Ādam, and that Ādam gave him the responsibility of leading when he was passing away. So Ādam gave waṣiyyah to Shīth, to take care of the affairs of mankind. Shīth assumed responsibility after his father Ādam. That's almost all of what we know about Shīth.
