10. Prophets After Ibrahim
After the account of Ibrahim, Allah subḥānahu wa taʿālā continues the lineage of prophethood, mentioning several other prophets whose stories illustrate various aspects of faith and divine mercy.
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُم مِّن رَّحْمَتِنَا وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ عَلِيًّا
“And We bestowed on them from Our mercy, and We granted them a noble mention of true praise.”
This verse reveals that Allah bestowed special mercy upon these prophets and granted them an honorable reputation that would endure throughout history. The "noble mention" (lisāna ṣidqin ʿaliyyā) refers to the lasting positive remembrance these prophets enjoy among believers across generations.
The Quran then directs attention to Musa (peace be upon him):
وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ مُوسَىٰ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مُخْلَصًا وَكَانَ رَسُولًا نَّبِيًّا
“And mention in the Book (the story of) Musa. Indeed, he was chosen, and he was”
