Ibrahim's Supplications for Makkah and His Descendants

Among the most eloquent and beautiful passages of the Qur'an are the heartfelt supplications of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) recorded in Surah Ibrahim. From verses 35 to 41, Allah reveals the profound and moving prayers that Ibrahim offered for the barren valley of Makkah, his descendants, and the future of true worship. The continuous flow of pilgrims to Makkah and the abundance of provisions available there - with goods brought from around the world - testify to this prayer's acceptance.

Among the most powerful and important supplications is Ibrahim's prayer for the establishment of prayer:

This supplication emphasizes the central importance of prayer in the life of a believer. Ibrahim doesn't simply ask that he and his descendants should pray, but that they should be muqīm al-ṣalāh (establishers of prayer) - those who maintain prayer consistently with devotion and sincerity.
