The Plot Against ʿĪsā

The Yahūd in the time of Sayyidunā ʿĪsā (peace be upon him) rejected the message of ʿĪsā, and a very small band, a group, believed in him — and these were al-Ḥawāriyyūn. And the rest of the community — whether it was the community itself, which were the Jews, or the authorities, which were the Romans — rejected the message of ʿĪsā (peace be upon him).

The Jews plotted against ʿĪsā, and they conspired against him with the government. They made a plot with the government to assassinate and get rid of Sayyidunā ʿĪsā. And the Roman authorities joined with the Yahūd in that conspiracy. The Yahūd are the ones who instigated it, and then the Jews actually used the Romans to perform that plot against Sayyidunā ʿĪsā. And the decree was issued that Sayyidunā ʿĪsā (peace be upon him) should be executed in public: by carrying him over the cross, and putting a crown over his head — not a crown of gold or silver, but of thorns — and to nail him to the cross, and let him bleed till death.

And that was a very gruesome way of execution that they used to carry out. They would make a cross out of wood, and then they would nail — nail the hands and the feet to the cross. They would hit nails into the hands, and hang you on the cross, and you would bleed from this injury, from your feet and your hands, until you die. And you could stay for hours and hours in the sun on that cross, dying a very slow death. So it was a very gruesome way of execution. So the law had been decreed — decreed that Sayyidunā ʿĪsā (peace be upon him) should be executed.
