Paid to Nurse Her Own Son

They took the child to the mother of Mūsā, and immediately Mūsā began to breastfeed. Now the queen said: I want you — I am inviting you — to come and breastfeed him in the palace. But now the mother of Mūsā had leverage. She had a monopoly over the matter: nobody else could breastfeed Mūsā but her. So now she set the terms. She said: no, I have a husband and I have children, and I have to take care of them at home, so you will have to bring the child to me, to my house, to be breastfed.

Look at this. Mūsā, who had been dropped alone into the river by his mother because of her īmān, was now leaving the palace of Firʿawn under royal guards and going to the house of his parents — and the mother of Mūsā was being paid to take care of her own child. Wa man yattaqi Allāha yajʿal lahu makhrajā — whoever has taqwā, Allah (swt) will make a way out for him.

If the mother of Mūsā had not believed in the promise of Allah (swt), her child would have been killed. Mūsā would have been killed: if the mother of Mūsā had kept the child with her, he would have been killed. But because she believed in the promise of Allah (swt) and let him go, now Mūsā was protected by the security guards of Firʿawn, and he became a source of rizq for the whole family, because they were paying her to take care of Mūsā. And the whole family was honoured, because they were taking care of the adopted son of Firʿawn. Look at the result of taqwā. This is the result of taqwā: Allah (swt) is going to provide a way out for you, and He is going to provide for you from sources you do not perceive.
