Promises We Do Not Act On
This mother fulfilled the command of Allah in order to receive His promises. How many promises do we have — and yet we do not act on the orders of Allah (swt)? We are told that if we strive and struggle in jihad for the sake of Allah, Allah will give us victory. We are not doing that. We are told that if we spend for the sake of Allah (swt), Allah will give us more. We do not do that. We are told that if we have tawakkul in Allah (swt), Allah will provide for us more. We do not do that. We are told that if we have taqwā, Allah will provide us with rizq from sources we do not expect.
فَإِذَا بَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ فَارِقُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ وَأَشْهِدُوا۟ ذَوَىْ عَدْلٍ مِّنكُمْ وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلشَّهَـٰدَةَ لِلَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ يُوعَظُ بِهِۦ مَن كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ ۚ وَمَن يَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُۥ مَخْرَجًا وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَـٰلِغُ أَمْرِهِۦ ۚ قَدْ جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدْرًا
“So, when they (the divorced women) have (almost) reached their term, then either retain them with fairness, or part with them with fairness. And make two just men from among you witnesses (of your either decision). And (O witnesses,) keep your testimony upright for the sake of Allah. That is what anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day is exhorted to do. Whoever fears Allah, He brings forth a way out for him, and provides him (with what he needs) from where he does not even imagine. And whoever places his trust in Allah, He is sufficient for him. Surely Allah is to accomplish His purpose. Allah has set a measure for every thing.” (65:2–3)
And we do not do that. The mother of Mūsā did it, even though it was much more difficult for her, because she was a mother, this was a child a few days old, and she was ordered to do something drastic and very difficult: to put him in the Nile. But she did it. And we are going to see the results of her action. We are going to see what happens when you fulfil the order of Allah (swt), and how Allah fulfils His promises to you.
