True to His Promise
Allah (swt) then speaks of Mūsā (peace be upon him), of Hārūn (peace be upon him), of Ismāʿīl (peace be upon him) and of Idrīs (peace be upon him), giving to each a word of praise. Of Ismāʿīl (peace be upon him) He says that he was ever true to his promise:
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صَادِقَ ٱلْوَعْدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولًا نَّبِيًّا
“And mention in the Book (the story of) Ismā‘īl. He was indeed true to his promise, and was a messenger, a prophet.” (19:54)
Of Idrīs (peace be upon him) He says likewise that he was a man of truth:
وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِدْرِيسَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّا
“And mention in the Book (the story of) Idrīs. He was indeed a Siddīq (man of truth), a prophet.” (19:56)
And of Ismāʿīl (peace be upon him) He says further that he used to enjoin upon his family prayer and zakāh:
وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ أَهْلَهُۥ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ وَكَانَ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ مَرْضِيًّا
“He used to enjoin Salāh and Zakāh upon his family, and was favourite to his Lord.” (19:55)
Prayer and zakāh are thus kept constantly in view here as well.
