The Truth Comes Out
So the king investigated the case. He brought these women and asked them the question.
قَالَ مَا خَطْبُكُنَّ إِذْ رَٰوَدتُّنَّ يُوسُفَ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ ۚ قُلْنَ حَـٰشَ لِلَّهِ مَا عَلِمْنَا عَلَيْهِ مِن سُوٓءٍ ۚ قَالَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْـَٔـٰنَ حَصْحَصَ ٱلْحَقُّ أَنَا۠ رَٰوَدتُّهُۥ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
“He (the king) said, “What was your case, O women, when you seduced Yūsuf?” They said, “God forbid, we know of no evil in him.” The governor’s wife said, “Now the truth has come to light. I did seduce him, and he is surely truthful.”” (12:51)
The king said to the women: what was your affair when you sought to seduce Yūsuf? The women told the truth. They said: ḥāsha lillāh — Allah forbid; we know of no evil against him. All of these women testified to the truth and said that Yūsuf was innocent and had committed no evil.
At that moment, when the wife of al-ʿAzīz saw that the case was exposed and the truth was known, she said: now the truth has become manifest to all. And she admitted her guilt: it was I who sought to seduce him, and he is surely one of the truthful. Now the innocence of Yūsuf was established.
