I Complain Only to Allah
قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَشْكُوا۟ بَثِّى وَحُزْنِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
“He said, “I do not complain of my anguish and sorrow to anyone but Allah, and I know from Allah what you do not know.” (12:86)
He said: I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know. I am not complaining to you; I am not complaining to mankind. I am asking Allah (swt) to help me. Ashkū ilā Allāh — I seek help from Allah (swt).
يَـٰبَنِىَّ ٱذْهَبُوا۟ فَتَحَسَّسُوا۟ مِن يُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ وَلَا تَا۟يْـَٔسُوا۟ مِن رَّوْحِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يَا۟يْـَٔسُ مِن رَّوْحِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ
“O my sons, go and search for Yūsuf and his brother, and do not lose hope in the mercy of Allah. In fact, only the infidels lose hope in Allah’s mercy.”” (12:87)
And then he said: O my sons, go and inquire about Yūsuf and his brother. The father was telling these other brothers: go and look for Yūsuf and his brother. Yaʿqūb (peace be upon him) did not lose hope. And he said: and never give up hope of the mercy of Allah; certainly no one despairs of the mercy of Allah except people who disbelieve.
