If You Try to Count Them

But the chief point to be brought forward here is that, after mentioning many of these, Allah (swt) says in verse 18:

Wa in taʿuddū niʿmata Allāhi lā tuḥṣūhā. He gives such a variety of bounties, and then He says that if you try to count the bounties of Allah you will not be able to enumerate them. That is a statement and a fact. Take even one of those bounties and count the bounties within it — the human being alone. And that is why Allah (swt) then goes on to speak of the oneness of Allah (swt), and thereafter of the human being.

Consider the niʿmah of the human being himself: the whole system spoken of, the biological ordering of the human being. Let a man have trouble passing water, or be unable to relieve himself and be constipated, and consider the misery it creates. He does not even feel like eating afterwards. He has an upset stomach and does not feel like eating, though the best of foods be set before him. All of it must be in balance. And Allah (swt) has made it such that it repairs itself, even after turbulence, even when we abuse it.
