Water, Crops and the Sea
And then Allah says, from verse 10:
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً ۖ لَّكُم مِّنْهُ شَرَابٌ وَمِنْهُ شَجَرٌ فِيهِ تُسِيمُونَ
“He is the One who sent down water from the heavens, of which you have your drink; and with it (you grow) plants on which you pasture your cattle.” (16:10)
Huwa alladhī anzala mina al-samāʾi māʾan lakum minhu sharāb. He explains the benefits of everything. He has caused the water to descend; from it you drink, and from it you water your crops and irrigate your land.
يُنۢبِتُ لَكُم بِهِ ٱلزَّرْعَ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلنَّخِيلَ وَٱلْأَعْنَـٰبَ وَمِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
“He causes the crops therewith to grow for you, and olives, and date palms, and grape vines, and all the fruits. Surely, in that, there is a sign for a people who ponder.” (16:11)
Then, yunbitu lakum al-zarʿa wa-l-zaytūna wa-l-nakhīla wa-l-aʿnāb: Allah has created these crops for you. Again it speaks of the zaytūn, the olive, and the nakhīl, the palm, and the aʿnāb, the grapes; wa min kulli al-thamarāt, and all the other fruits. And again there is a sign in it for those who think. Allāhu akbar.
