They Deny What They Do Not Encompass

Then comes verse 39, a verse of great importance, carrying an idea of great importance:

They have denied it — and here is given the reason why people in general deny things. They deny, as a rule, out of unawareness, out of ignorance. They are unwilling to examine the matter. Most people will accept whatever the media tell them; they will not look into the reality. When an apology or a correction is published several months later, after a court case, it is printed very small, and by then people have forgotten. They still remember the big idea, and the tarnish upon the person slandered earlier always remains. Such has been the way of the world.

One reason, then, is that people simply accept whatever they are told; for people deny that which their knowledge does not encompass, and whose proper interpretation they do not understand. That is exactly how the peoples before them denied. And what became of them, and how Allah (swt) dealt with them, is there to be seen.
