Signs for Those Who Ask
۞ لَّقَدْ كَانَ فِى يُوسُفَ وَإِخْوَتِهِۦٓ ءَايَـٰتٌ لِّلسَّآئِلِينَ
“Surely, in (the story of) Yūsuf and his brothers, there are signs for those who ask.” (12:7)
Truly, in Yūsuf and his brothers there are signs for those who ask. If you look at the story of Yūsuf and think about it, you will find in it an ocean of meanings and lessons that will help you in your life.
The brothers of Yūsuf knew that their father loved him more than them. Ten of them were from a different mother, or mothers, and Yūsuf and Binyāmīn were from another wife of Yaʿqūb. Yūsuf was the most beloved in the eyes of his father, and the brothers disliked that. They were jealous — and jealousy blinds the heart.
