A Hadith Qudsi Beyond Measure

There is a particular ḥadīth Qudsī, a long one, that lifts the heart when it is low. Rasūlullāh (peace be upon him) reports Allah (swt) as saying: if all of the jinn and all of mankind — every jinn from the first ever created to the last, every human being from Ādam (peace be upon him) to the last man — were to gather together on the very plain of resurrection and ask Allah (swt) for everything they wanted, holding nothing back — making a list, and wanting even beyond that list, each and every one of them — and Allah (swt) were to grant every single request, this would not diminish anything from the kingdom of Allah (swt). Such is His generosity. And if all of that same jinn and mankind, the most sinful among them, the most rebellious, the most disbelieving, the worst of them, were to commit every sin they were capable of together, this too would not reduce anything from the kingdom of Allah (swt). Likewise, were all of mankind and jinn together to worship Allah (swt), with hearts as pure as the purest heart among them, worshipping with the utmost sincerity, this would not add anything to the kingdom of Allah (swt) either. He is Rabb al-ʿĀlamīn; His servants are only ever sinful before Him.
