The Sun Stopped

And we will see the miracle that Allah (swt) performed for them. When you have Allah on your side, do not worry; Allah will do everything for you.

Yūshaʿ ibn Nūn was fighting al-Jabbārīn. They were the people living in Jerusalem; they were giants, powerful tyrants. Yūshaʿ ibn Nūn led the children of Israel in that battle. The fighting was furious. The sun was about to set, and Yūshaʿ ibn Nūn knew that he would need more time; it was not enough for him. He could not win unless the day were longer. If they waited for the next day, the army would regroup and attack again. So he needed more time.

Yūshaʿ ibn Nūn pointed to the sun and said: anti maʾmūratun wa anā maʾmūr — you are receiving orders, and I am receiving orders; both of us are receiving orders from Allah. So: stop. He told the sun: stop. And Allah (swt) made the sun stop for Yūshaʿ ibn Nūn, until he finished and destroyed the enemy; then the sun started moving again.

If you have Allah (swt) on your side, do not worry; Allah (swt) will take care of you. It is not a matter of numbers, or weapons, or air force, or artillery, or battalions. If you have Allah with you, Allah will help you. He pointed to the sun: stop — and it stopped.
