The Mountains Repeating After Him
Dāwūd would recite al-Zabūr, and Allah (swt) made it so easy for him. When Dāwūd would read and make dhikr, the mountains and the birds would join him and repeat after him.
۞ وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا دَاوُۥدَ مِنَّا فَضْلًا ۖ يَـٰجِبَالُ أَوِّبِى مَعَهُۥ وَٱلطَّيْرَ ۖ وَأَلَنَّا لَهُ ٱلْحَدِيدَ
“Surely We bestowed grace on Dawūd from Us: “O mountains, pronounce with him Allah’s purity repeatedly - and you too O birds!” And We made the iron soft for him” (34:10)
Awwibī means tarjīʿ: repeat after him. Allah (swt) is commanding the mountains and the birds to repeat after Dāwūd. Imagine: Dāwūd (peace be upon him) is reciting, and the mountains and the birds are repeating after him. Because everything around us is making tasbīḥ of Allah (swt). Allah (swt) says that everything is making tasbīḥ, everything is glorifying Allah (swt), but you do not understand their glorification.
