The Casket Carried by Angels

Allah, to strengthen their hearts, is going to appoint Ṭālūt as a king through a ceremony — and this ceremony would be a miracle from Allah. To strengthen their hearts, so that they would accept him as a leader, Allah (swt) is going to provide a miracle, an ayah. That ayah was al-tābūt. Al-tābūt is a casket. In that casket were some of the belongings of Mūsā and Hārūn, and Banū Isrāʾīl used to consider that to be barakah, because it was left behind by the anbiyāʾ. And between them and Mūsā are centuries, a few hundred years; so they had been separated from Mūsā by a long history. They had some of the belongings of Mūsā and Hārūn in a casket, and they used to consider that barakah for them, because it was left behind by the anbiyāʾ of Allah (swt).

What happened is that the enemy was able to take hold of this, and the enemy took it away from them. This ayah, this miracle that Allah is going to give them, is that this tābūt, this casket, will be delivered by the angels to Banū Isrāʾīl. So the angels carried this casket and brought it back to Banū Isrāʾīl. And in it, Allah (swt) also says, is sakīnah — tranquillity, peace for you. This belongs to the anbiyāʾ; Allah will bring it back to you; so it is going to be sakīnah for you.
