The Judgement of Saʿd ibn Muʿādh

And now Saʿd ibn Muʿādh (may Allah be pleased with him) will deliver his ruling on the entire tribe of Banū Qurayẓah. It was a very important moment, a very important ruling, because it affects the fate of an entire tribe who had lived in Madīnah for hundreds of years. "I hereby rule that all the men of Qurayẓah are to be killed, their properties to be divided, and their women and children be enslaved."

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, Laqad ḥakamta bi-ḥukmi Allāhi min fawqi sabʿi samāwāt^***: "You have ruled the same ruling of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, from on top of seven heavens." This ruling of yours is the ruling of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. This is the ruling that would please Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: all of the men to be executed, the property divided, and the women and children enslaved. And this is the strictest ruling acceptable in Islam — so to say, this is the maximum sentence.
