"The Full Moon Has Risen Over Us"

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) entered Madīnah, and he was greeted by the people saying: ṭalaʿa al-badru ʿalaynā min thaniyyāti al-wadāʿ, wajaba al-shukru ʿalaynā mā daʿā lillāhi dāʿ. Some historians mention that these words were said when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) made hijrah from Makkah to Madīnah. But Ibn al-Qayyim says that this is incorrect, because Thaniyyāt al-Wadāʿ is to the north of Madīnah, and when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came from Makkah he would have been coming from the south. Therefore he says that this happened when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was coming back from Tabūk, and not when he made hijrah from Makkah to Madīnah.

Ibn al-Qayyim then goes on to mention some lessons and benefits that can be derived from this ghazwah. There is one more incident that occurred in this ghazwah, and it deserves a chapter of its own: the story of Kaʿb ibn Mālik. So that is left, in shāʾ Allāh, for the next part.
