Peace Upon Ibrāhīm
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
“and We left for him (a word of praise) among the later people, (that is,) “Salām be on Ibrāhīm!” (37:108–109)
Ibrāhīm (peace be upon him) was told by Allah (swt) — or actually, the ayat say: and We left for him among generations in later times: salām. After this event happened, Allah (swt) says: and We left salām for Ibrāhīm in the generations to come. And what is the representation of that? What is the representation of the salām on Ibrāhīm? How is that manifested?
It is in the tashahhud that we do in every ṣalāh. The tashahhud that we do in every ṣalāh: we make ṣalāh and salām on Ibrāhīm and Muhammad (peace be upon him) in every ṣalāh. Allah (swt) says: wa taraknā ʿalayhi fī al-ākhirīn, salāmun ʿalā Ibrāhīm — and We left for him in the generations to come: peace on Ibrāhīm.
We're asking Allah (swt) to grant Ibrāhīm peace in every ṣalāh. Millions and millions of believers all over the world, throughout generations, five times a day and more, are asking Allah (swt) to grant Ibrāhīm (peace be upon him) peace.
Ṣallā Allāhu ʿalā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā ālihi wa sallam.
