Duʿās That Help Us in ʿAqīdah, and the Preserved Tablet

There are a number of duʿās that help us in ʿaqīdah, worth reading through at least once, and writing down. Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min al-shakki fī al-ḥaqqi baʿda al-yaqīn. O Allah, I seek Your refuge from doubt in the ḥaqq after having been convinced: that is, from becoming a doubter of the ḥaqq after conviction and firm faith.

Another duʿāʾ is Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min al-ḥawri baʿda al-kawr. Here it is a big ḥā and a small kāf; it is simply min al-ḥawr. Ḥawr: ḥā, wāw, rā. Kawr: kāf, wāw, rā. It means to unravel: to go back after having been firm, and after progressing.

Another is from the Qur'an, one which everybody should know: Rabbanā lā tuzigh qulūbanā baʿda idh hadaytanā wa hab lanā min ladunka raḥmah, innaka anta al-Wahhāb. Do not cause our hearts to deviate after You have guided them.

Another is Allāhumma lā takilnā ilā anfusinā ṭarfata ʿayn. The beginning of it is Allāhumma aṣliḥ lanā shaʾnanā kullah. O Allah, reform all of our affairs, and do not entrust us to ourselves even for the blink of an eye. Because when a person is not entrusted to Allah, and is entrusted to himself, that is when things go wrong.

There are a number of other duʿās, but these duʿās should be part of our regular duʿās every day, because, seriously, with the confusion outside, it is very easy for people to become confused. Hopefully everything that has been read here will help against the very pitfalls that confront us, and all the challenges that we see around us, all the affairs that are going on. Hopefully these things will explain matters to us and make our faith more firm, so that we are able to understand all of these things, and able to help others as well, in shāʾ Allāh.

Whether īmān increases or decreases is taken up in the next chapter, in shāʾ Allāh, since it seems that some of the text which comes next concerns it.

For anyone interested, there are descriptions of al-Lawḥ al-Maḥfūẓ, about which the question has in fact been asked, and descriptions of the Qalam. Al-Lawḥu jismun ʿaẓīmun nūrāniyyun, kataba fīhi al-qalamu bi-idhni Allāhi taʿālā mā huwa kāʾinun ilā yawmi al-qiyāmah: a mighty body made of light, in which the pen wrote, by the permission of Allah, everything that was to happen until the Day of Judgment. And the Qalam is jismun ʿaẓīmun nūrāniyyun, khalaqahu taʿālā min nūrih: a mighty body made of nūr, which Allah (swt) created from His nūr.

So we believe in it, as Allah says: fī lawḥin maḥfūẓ; Nūn, wa-l-qalami wa mā yasṭurūn. Some descriptions say that the pen is the length of 500 years' distance, and Allah knows best. Obviously, to write everything… subḥān Allāh, these are massive heavenly bodies that Allah created.
