Loved for Remembering Much

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said also that he who remembers Allah much is loved by Him, man akthara dhikra Allāh aḥabbahu Allāh. He related, too, that on the night he was taken up to his Lord, the Miʿrāj, while Jibrīl (peace be upon him) was showing him what there was to see, he passed a man immersed in the light of the Throne, mughayyab fī nūri al-ʿArsh — as the hadith itself puts it — entirely lost within it:

"I asked, 'O Jibrīl, who is this? Is he an angel? I have never seen anything of the kind.' I was told, 'No, O Messenger of Allah.' I asked, 'Is he one of the prophets?' I was told, 'No.' I asked, 'Who, then?' I was told, 'This is a man whose tongue, while he was in the world, was never dry of the remembrance of Allah, and whose heart was attached to the mosques.'"
