The Counsel at Badr

Abū Bakr spoke, ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke, and then al-Miqdād spoke. ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him) said he would sacrifice the world to be the one who spoke those words. Al-Miqdād stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah, go forth to what Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, has commanded you to do. We are not going to tell you as the Children of Israel told Mūsā (peace be upon him) — go and fight, you and your Lord, and we will stay here — but we will fight in front of you and behind you, and on your right and on your left." And he said, "Go forth and fight with your Lord; we will fight with you." As it says in al-Bukhārī (no. 3952), the face of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) lit up — it was shining, and he was happy, and he stood up. Those words of al-Miqdād (may Allah be pleased with him) strengthened the Companions.
