Mālik ibn ʿAwf

Mālik ibn ʿAwf received a message from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saying: if you become Muslim, I will give you back what belongs to you, and on top of that I will give you a hundred camels. So, subḥān Allāh, Mālik ibn ʿAwf slipped out of al-Ṭāʾif. He had been there when it was besieged, and he had carried on resisting until that moment; but now, when he was told by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), I will give you your property back, he came and accepted Islam. And then he led an army of his people who had become Muslim against the people of al-Ṭāʾif. He was the one who started the war against the Messenger of Allah, and now he became Muslim, and he was fighting against the ones whom he had encouraged to fight the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in the first place. So this shows again how the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was winning the hearts of people.
