The Sunnah Ghusl of Jumuʿah and the Two ʿĪds

Beyond what is farḍ, there are four occasions on which ghusl is sunnah, firmly established from the practice of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). The first is for Ṣalāt al-Jumuʿah. A person need not be in a state of janābah at all for this ghusl to be sunnah — being already free of it is no reason at all to skip it, since it is sunnah in its own right, made regardless, cleanly, with good clothing put on for the occasion, and, for men only, ʿiṭr, perfume, rather than aftershave or antiperspirant. It is preferable that this particular ghusl be made after Fajr on the very morning of Jumuʿah, before the prayer itself is prayed.

The same is sunnah for both ʿĪds — ʿĪd al-Fiṭr, and ʿĪd al-Aḍḥā, the Qurbānī ʿĪd, commonly called Baqra ʿĪd — made before ʿĪd clothing is put on, and before coming to the ʿĪd prayer itself, and it carries great reward when made with the intention of fulfilling this sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).
