Abū al-Anbiyāʾ, the Father of the Prophets

Next we have Abū al-Anbiyāʾ, the father of the prophets, min ulī al-ʿazmi min al-rusul: Ibrāhīm (peace be upon him). Ibrāhīm, who was mentioned in 73 places in the Qur'an^**, in 25 sūrahs of the Qur'an. Ibrāhīm — in English, Abraham. A prophet of Allah (swt). He was born in Babylon, and he was from al-Kaldāniyyīn, the Chaldeans, who live in modern-day Iraq. That is the origin of Ibrāhīm: from the Chaldeans. And he lived, and he was born, in Babylon.

Ibrāhīm started his daʿwah to his father. He started preaching, in the beginning, to his father. Allah (swt) mentions to us that story in the Qur'an:

Wa-dhkur fī al-kitābi Ibrāhīm, innahu kāna ṣiddīqan nabiyyā. Idh qāla li-abīhi yā abati lima taʿbudu mā lā yasmaʿu wa lā yubṣiru wa lā yughnī ʿanka shayʾā: when he said to his father, O my father, why do you worship that which hears not, sees not, and cannot avail you in anything? Yā abati innī qad jāʾanī min al-ʿilmi mā lam yaʾtika fa-ttabiʿnī ahdika ṣirāṭan sawiyyā: O my father, verily there has come to me of knowledge that which came not unto you. So follow me; I will guide you to a straight path.
