Ten Thousand

The army was ten thousand strong. This was the largest army assembled by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) so far: all of the Muhājirūn and all of the Anṣār were included, and many of the tribes surrounding Madīnah took part, such as Sulaym, Aslam, Ghifār and Muzaynah. All of these tribes took part, and that is why there was this large number, ten thousand strong. And these are the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) who witnessed the great battle of the Fatḥ of Makkah — and the rest of the Fatḥ of Makkah follows.
