Umm Sulaym's Dagger

Next: Abū Ṭalḥah saw his wife, Umm Sulaym, carrying a dagger. He said to her: what is this? She said: I am going to rip open the stomach of any of the kuffār who comes near me. Abū Ṭalḥah said: O Messenger of Allah, did you hear what she said? The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) laughed. And then she said: yā Rasūla Allāh, uqtul man baʿdanā min al-ṭulaqāʾ, inhazamū bik — O Messenger of Allah, kill all of those released ones; they were the reason for our defeat. She was talking about these new Muslims who had come from Makkah, from Quraysh. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) told her: inna Allāha qad kafā wa aḥsan — Allah (ʿazza wa jall) has taken care of us, and He has done us good; we do not need to kill anyone. Al-ḥamdu lillāh, we have achieved victory; there is no need to do that (Muslim 1809). In this incident one can see an example of the Ṣaḥābiyyāt — an example of one of the women of the Anṣār (may Allah be pleased with her).

Next: there was a group of men gathered around something, so the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked what it was, and he was told that it was a woman who had been killed by Khālid ibn al-Walīd. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: this woman was not a combatant; she was not fighting. And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) gave instructions to tell Khālid ibn al-Walīd not to kill women, and not to kill labourers, and not to kill children (Abū Dāwūd 2669) — and this refers to killing them intentionally.
