Chicken Slaughter in Practice: Two Companies, and Nando's

Chicken slaughter, too, is carried out in Australia both by machine and by hand, and there is a certain competition between hand-slaughtered and machine-slaughtered chicken. Two large companies, Baida and Seagulls^*****, both Jewish-owned, saw the advantage of employing Muslim slaughtermen, so that their supply became ḥalāl to everybody; between them these two companies hold something close to a monopoly on chicken, and the chicken bought at market is, as a result, slaughtered by Muslims. Nando's, for instance, sources all its chicken from Baida, and it is ḥalāl; the same is true even in Africa, where Baida likewise supplies it, and it is ḥalāl there too — though this is never displayed. Nando's does not advertise itself as ḥalāl, but the chicken it supplies, wherever it is bought, is ḥalāl because Muslim slaughtermen did the work. This is offered as a fact, not as a licence to eat from anywhere without a second thought; anyone who wishes may investigate it for himself.
