Modesty After Ghusl

On coming out of the shower it is mustaḥabb to hasten to cover the body without delay. Walking about unclothed, even within one's own home, is not permitted, on the reasoning that a person's own house is private ground where anything at all may be done; that reasoning does not hold, because human beings share their world with other beings who watch them without themselves being seen. Allah (swt) speaks of the shayāṭīn and the jinn, unseen beings who see human beings though human beings do not see them — and in Paradise this will be reversed, so that the believers will see them while the jinn no longer see the believers. Among the more shameful spectacles the children of the jinn are said to witness, one of the most amusing to them, is the exposed ʿawrah of a human being, at which they are reported to laugh without restraint, pointing it out to one another. For this reason the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) taught that on removing one's clothing so as to be entirely uncovered, one should say, "I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed Satan," so that the eyes of the shayāṭīn and the jinn are veiled and cannot see. The same rule of haste applies on stepping back out of the shower afterwards: clothing is put on again as quickly as possible.
